So, I oversaw the running of this month’s charity event for our chosen organisation of the year, the RNLI.
The RNLI, in a nutshell, save lives at sea. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is the largest charity that saves lives at sea around the coasts of the UK, the Republic of Ireland, and some surrounding islands.
Being located so close to the charities headquarters in Poole, Creditplus is very passionate about the work that The RNLI do for the community.
I then got my thinking cap on and started to gather ideas of what to do for this amazing charity.
My thought process:
So, I had come up with the name of my event, now I need to think of what will make those important pennies for our chosen charity.
I mean, it’s quite an easy decision as 9/10 people love a bit of cake, so that is what I did. I brought the cake to the people that want it. I also got them all to wear yellow – just to be on the theme of course…
So, I set off in the morning on my voyage to the local Tesco’s (it’s as rustic as it sounds). I bought a selection of cakes and baked goods that I could offer to my former colleagues in exchange for a British pound.
I sent a few emails to the whole of the office telling them the reason for the mountain of cakes, and people loved it. The cakes vanished.
At the end of the day, we counted all the pennies that wear put into our lovely RNLI themed charity boxed (which were incredibly hard to open btw), and we ended up with a total of… *drum roll pleases* … £44.74 and strangely enough, €3.40!
All in all, we had a smashing day celebrating the good that this local charity brings us.
I hope to continue running these charitable days, to raise awareness for the benefit of the RNLI.
The best place to find updates on our charity fundraising!
